Jan Terri

There is a certain enigmatic quality to Jan Terri's music videos. Judged by any standard metrics, they are certainly awful. The lyrics are terrible, the camera work is shabby, and Terri pretty much has no screen presence. They definitely fall within the "It's so bad, it's good" category. Upon my first viewing I succumbed to a head shaking, surreal state of confusion as I tried to understand how and why these things ever got made.

Yet, like many of the other bad music videos I've posted, they seem to have a way of getting stuck in your head. Perhaps it's an appreciation for the sincere, yet naive effort that was put into their creation. Terri is a woman with a dream and though the results of her efforts may not be so great, you've got to give her credit for trying. Then again, maybe the terrible lyrics are actually what make the songs so catchy. It's as if their oddness creates this little replay loop in your head and the next thing you know you're catching yourself singing "I don't wanna lose you tonight" while doing the laundry.

Whatever the case may be, if you haven't come across these videos yet, take a moment to enjoy the work of the now legendary Jan Terri. You'll be glad you did.

Crispin Glover on Letterman

Let's take a trip back in time. The year is 1987. The place, Late Night with David Letterman. David's guest tonight is a young Crispin Glover. Glover, still bathing in the limelight after the success of Back to the Future in which he played the part of George McFly is supposed to be promoting his new movie River's Edge. Let's take a moment to enjoy a little late night history.

It's hard to say how much of what went on that night was drug induced, Glover being the weird guy that he is or Glover purposely playing out a role in an attempt to pick up the mantle of Andy Kaufman. Perhaps it was a combination of all three. In the end, it seems likely it was more of an artistic stunt and promotional piece for his movie Rubin and Ed, which had been in development for sometime and eventually released in 1991. In the film, Glover plays the part of a strange, socially inept young man named Rubin Farr, who more than resembles the Crispin Glover that appeared that night on the Late Show.

Whatever the truth is, the combination of Glover's antics and Letterman's discomfort with the whole thing certainly makes it one for the late night t.v. history books.

Locked in an unlocked closet

USA Today: Pair spent two days 'locked' in (unlocked) closet
A Florida couple spent two days in what they believed was a locked closet.

John Arwood, 31, and Amber Campbell, 25 stated that they had hid in the janitor's closet at Daytona State College to escape unidentified assailants. Once in the closet, they believed they had locked themselves inside. After waiting two days, the desperate pair called 911 for help. After police arrived and "freed" the couple, an officer checked the door to see if it would lock from the inside and found it had been unlocked the whole time.

Police said they found human feces and scouring pads which are sometimes used to smoke crack but no drugs were found.

Both were charged with trespassing and Campbell was also charged with violating probation.
