Man Finds Mutant Rat With A Plant Growing Out Of It

An Indian farmer recently discovered a rat with a plant growing out of it's back.

Farmer Datar Singh, had planted soya beans on his farm earlier this year. On August 7, while inspecting his crop he discovered the rat.

It's speculated that a soya bean seed could have landed in an open wood and germinated there.

Neighbours which filmed the rat, said it looked to be in "immense pain".

Professor A. Siddiqui, head of the department of biology at a college in nearby Barnagar, said "It's a miracle. Though the plant had grown in the region near the neck, there was no brain damage."

Datar took the rat home, removed the plant, and set it free.

Mummified monk revealed inside 1,000-year-old Buddha statue

From the telegraph

"Scientific tests have revealed that an ancient Buddhist statue contains the perfectly preserved remains of a 1,000-year-old mummified monk, in what is believed to be the only such example in the world.

The monk, who is sitting in the lotus position, is thought to have starved himself to death in an act of extreme spiritual devotion in China or Tibet in the 10th century. His preserved remains were displayed in his monastery.

Some 200 years later, perhaps after his remains started to deteriorate, his mummified body was placed inside the elaborate, lacquered statue of Buddha."

"Boom goes the dynamite"

The cringiest, saddest sports reporter meltdowns of all time.

From Wikipedia:
"Boom goes the dynamite!" is a catchphrase coined by Ball State University student Brian Collins, popularized after a video of him delivering an ill-fated sports broadcast that included the phrase was shared on YouTube in 2005. In the ensuing years it has become a popular phrase, used to indicate a pivotal moment.
During his freshman year, Collins agreed to appear on Ball State University's campus newscast in place of the regular sportscaster, who was ill. The teleprompter was operational, but an inexperienced operator accidentally fast-forwarded through the script, leaving Collins with no choice but to ad-lib most of his script. Among the games Collins had to report on was the March 22, 2005 NBA game between the Indiana Pacers and New Jersey Nets. The phrase can be heard as Pacers shooting guard Fred Jones hits a 3 with 2:03 left in the first quarter.
Collins had coined the phrase earlier in his freshman year while playing the video game Super Mario Kart with his college roommates; the group had enjoyed coming up with new phrases to shout during moments of triumph in the game.
A video of the broadcast was posted on YouTube several months later, and gradually gained significant attention over the next few years.

Eco Group Sobbing and Screaming Over Trees

An oldie but a goodie. I'm all for reasonable environmentalism but this is a bit too much.
